As we age, we lose facial fat, especially around the cheeks, eyes and neck, resulting in a sagging and drooping visage.

A safe alternative to a surgical facelift, Threadlifts cost less and have less downtime which is why they are a popular “lunchtime” or a “weekend lifting” treatment, that can usually be performed in around an hour. Thread lifts are a minimally invasive procedure that can last for approximately 1 to 2 years and can be used to lift the face, nose and brow as well as rejuvenate the skin. There are little to no side effects and almost no downtime at all, since the procedure involves a single injection to the treated area.

Dr Elias Tam first started with threadlift more than 10 years ago, learning under Dr Pierre Fornier, the father of threadlift and syringe liposuction. At that time, the procedure was done using the standard non-absorbable thread.

Over the years, there have been many new developments. Barbs were first added to improve the tissue traction and lifting in Aptos thread. To remove the problems of having a permanent thread, Happy Lift was created with reabsorble threads. To improve traction, the barbs were replaced with cones, as seen in Silhouette Thread and Silhouette Soft.

Various materials including Gold and elastic thread were also created over the years.

Beside immediate lifting, the threads can also stimulate collagen production, giving better results over time. Short threads are used to stimulate collagen and create a V-shaped face, which has been popularize by the Korean market.
The Nose Threadlift procedure is a very popular procedure in Korea and Japan. The nose threads act as scaffolding, which helps to contour, define, sharpen, lift and shape the nose as desired. The threads used for the Nose Threadlift procedure are called PDO (polydixanone) threads. The PDO threads are naturally absorbed by the body over time and as they dissolve, they create new collagen and tissue fibroblasts in the skin, resulting in tightening, which enhances the nose’s definition and contour.

For the nose threadlift, we now offer PLLA and PCL threads which can last longer, around 18 and 24 months respectively. PLLA is also more stiff and will expand slightly with time, which gives a stronger and thicker definition.

The results of the Nose Threadlift can last between 1 to 2 years. For best results, a repeat treatment in 6 to 12 months is recommended.
